Teacher Compensation

According to the Tulsa World, teachers in Texas make $19,000 more than their Oklahoma counterparts. That's ridiculous. Shawn Sheehan, Oklahoma's 2016 Teacher of the Year up and left for Texas last year. What's with this bill the OK legislature just kneejerk passed recently? They approved a bill one week and repealed the hotel/motel part of it the next week?!? Sounds like incompetence to me. I have a sneaking suspicion that when I get into office...

House Bill 1010XX

As far as the rest of the Republican field for Oklahoma Governor, quite a few of them said that they would not have signed House Bill 1010XX. Don't really have a problem with that as that was a total ham-handed bill to begin with, what I have a problem with is that quite a few said that they did not support the teacher walkout. What else were the teachers supposed to do? What else could they do? Any candidate that said they did not support the teacher walkout is out of touch, simply does not understand anyone below the $100,000 income level.

Gross Production Tax

Gross Production Tax needs to be raised to a 7% tax. North Dakota is just one of the states that is paying over 13%.  This moderate increase would serve as a massive cash infusion towards balancing the budget.

We need to repeal the Capital Gains Tax  Exemption. It is only benefiting maybe 1% of Oklahomans and costs the state approximately $120 million a year.

My Mission

We have to correct the funding issue in Oklahoma! Our state is the worst of all states in Veteran Suicides!  Funding for core services such as mental health, DHS, and public health must be addressed.  As a teacher in Oklahoma I know first hand the needs or our education system.  Read More
