The time has come for some common sense from our state government.

April 13, 2018, Filed for Governor of Oklahoma…the time has come for some common sense from our state government. For too long we have allowed mismanagement and poor decision making to put our great state into perpetual budget shortfalls, to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, slashing funding from virtually all state agencies and always low rankings in education funding and teachers pay. It’s much too easy too point the finger at Gov Fallin and the current legislature, yes they could have done a better job, however it is not as if we ranked highly in the nation before Fallin and then took a nosedive during her administration. I’m 44 years old, born and bred Okie, and I don’t recall our state ever being high in any ranking of note. That has to change. According to the Tulsa World, teachers in Texas make $19,000 more than their Oklahoma counterparts. That’s ridiculous. Shawn Sheehan, Oklahoma’s 2016 Teacher of the Year up and left for Texas last year. What’s with this bill the OK legislature just kneejerk passed recently? They approved a bill one week and repealed the hotel/motel part of it the next week?!? Sounds like incompetence to me. I have a sneaking suspicion that when I get into office and we the people do a no-bull audit on the Oklahoma state budget, we can probably find tens of millions of dollars that can be better spent or re-allocated. I know it, we all know it…to be continued
